Two-Sided Banner Project
Frequently Asked Questions
The Project01
What is the Two-Sided Banner Project?
A free, double-sided A4 banner for BTS’s Melbourne concert. One side celebrates j-hope’s upcoming 33rd birthday; the other features the South Korean flag (Taegeukgi).
When do we raise each side?
Birthday side: raise it during j-hope’s closing speech.
Taegeukgi side: raise it during the Arirang portion of “Body to Body.”
Is this an official BTS project?
No. This is an independent ARMY project, not affiliated with BTS, BIGHIT MUSIC, or HYBE.
Are you affiliated with other Melbourne fan projects?
No. This collaboration between the j-hope Birthday Fan Project and ARMY for ARIRANG is independent. We are not coordinating with or collecting funds on behalf of any Melbourne, Sydney, or Australian clubs or fan-projects. Our finances, design, production, and distribution are managed separately.
Design & Production02
How are you choosing the design?
Because stadiums are dimly lit and we want the guys to see these, we are prioritizing visibility: light backgrounds; compatibility with ARMY Bomb lighting; clear graphics that can be recognized from the stage in seconds; Korean text visible from floor seats; and easy A4 home printing to make it accessible if we are not successful with fundraising.
What size are the banners?
A4 (210 × 297 mm), approximately 8.3 × 11.7 inches.
Where will banners be printed?
Because printing in Australia is prohibitive, our plan is to print in China and ship to Australia.
Distribution03
Will everyone receive a banner?
That’s our goal. We’ll prioritize nearest the stage first (floor and first level sections), expanding upward as funding allows. Until we've raised enough funds, availability cannot be guaranteed.
Are banners free?
Yes.
Where can I get a banner?
Volunteers will distribute banners at the venue. Details will be announced closer to the concert.
Can I reserve one?
No.
Can I print my own?
Hopefully you won't need to. But if we do not reach our fundraising goal, we’ll release printable files approximately two weeks before the concert.
Donations & Transparency04
How are donations collected?
Because Australian and New Zealand fundraising regulations can be complex, our US-based team is coordinating donations through Venmo and PayPal. Funds will be used to pay the printer in China directly.
What will donations pay for?
Printing, shipping, duties, and taxes. Remaining funds may cover essential local distribution expenses, such as an SUV rental, wagon, or dolly.
What if we do not reach our goal?
We’ll print as many banners as funding permits and release printable files approximately two weeks before the concert.
What experience do the organizers have?
Our US-based organizers have successfully managed several fan projects and/or played a significant role including Stanford D3, LA D3, the RM × SFMOMA gift bags, and BTS: THE GUIDE.
Will fundraising information and expenses be public?
Yes. We will make fundraising totals and project expenses publicly available, while protecting donors’ private information.
Are organizers paid?
No. Everyone is volunteering their time.
Volunteering05
Can I volunteer?
Yes! We need volunteers to help make this a success! Please click this URL to volunteer:
Do I need a concert ticket?
No! You’re welcome to volunteer even if you don’t have a concert ticket. However, volunteers distributing banners inside the stadium will need a valid ticket.
Can I help if I’m not attending the concert?
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to help beyond concert day, including organizing, fundraising, promoting the project, receiving shipments, counting and preparing banners, and coordinating distribution.
Can I organize my own distribution?
We prefer that you work with our team to avoid duplication and reach as many sections as possible.
Project Leadership06
Who is organizing the project?
j-hope Birthday Fan Project: Jaymes and Flavie.
ARMY for ARIRANG: Zae and Joy.
Together, we are coordinating one design, fundraiser, and distribution plan.
Why did the teams join forces?
To combine resources rather than compete for donations, volunteers, and distribution capacity.
Who manages the social media accounts?
Flavie, Jaymes, Joy, and Zae share administrative access.
Who manages the website?
Joy manages the website, including content, fundraising information, and project announcements.
Who manages the finances?
Fundraising was initially managed by Jaymes before the projects joined forces. To simplify compliance with international fundraising regulations, financial management has since moved to Zae, who is based in the United States. For full transparency, all donations and expenses are publicly documented on our website.
